“You can trace our roots back to 1882 when Dallas Electric Lighting Company brought electricity to North Texas. More than 100 years later, in 2002, the Texas competitive electricity market opened, and TXU Energy became the state’s leading retail electric provider.”
TXU Energy was undergoing a redesign to give their website an updated look and a more user-friendly experience. They launched the redesign in phases; currently the Home Page and Residential (Pick a Plan) sections are publicly viewable.
I was the lead developer on the information architecture team. I created wireframes and annotated functionality of the site’s re-designed pages and new modules. During this process, I also provided feedback on the creative designs, fine-tuning it and optimizing the user experience. I presented these deliverables and updates to the client twice a week.
I also created and maintained the company’s digital style guide. Originally there was no style guide, and after my research and suggestion to use Frontify, the client agreed and was thrilled to have an organized, well-maintained set of style guidelines.
While this is still an ongoing project, I contributed to a number of redesigns including but not limited to: FAQ, Create Online Account, MyAccount, and My Energy Dashboard. In the process, I solved complex UX design problems and envisioned new site functionality all while working under tight deadlines.
