“NMSI’s mission is to improve student performance in the critical subjects of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). NMSI’s programs transform teaching, transform schools and are transforming education in the United States.” (nms.org)
The objective was to design and develop a website that will improve online branding, provide a cohesive, user-friendly experience, facilitate marketing communications, and optimize viewing across various devices.
The project went through two redesigns; the following work shows the second, final design.
I was the lead developer for building this site. I developed the entire site in Kentico (my first project building with this CMS) – from layouts to styles.
News + Views
I created customized blog, news, and video post types that are dynamically displayed on the News + Views page.
Each content type also has its own listing page. I created a custom query string filter that filters the posts by year.
In total, I created 7+ different, custom layouts that can be seen in the following pages:
I closely worked with the client to listen and incorporate their feedback. We went through multiple rounds of iterations to make sure that the site looked exactly as they envisioned it. In the end, we successfully deployed a new, redesigned site that matched the client’s rebrand efforts.
Previous: Version 1
The project went through two redesigns; the following work shows the first design.
For the rest of the sections, I experimented with animating SVG’s.
When the user scrolls to the “Transforming Communities” tree, the lines shoot out and connect with each other. This was made possible with the vivus JS SVG animation tool.
Finally, when the user has scrolled to the people images, the numbers quickly count up to the maximum number. This was done with a piece of custom script that I wrote.
Having the elements animate at the right time – when they have scrolled into view – was made possible with the inview event plugin.
Views of the first iteration of the site are shown below.
