“NMSI’s mission is to improve student performance in the critical subjects of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). NMSI’s programs transform teaching, transform schools and are transforming education in the United States.” (nms.org)
The objective was to design and develop a website that will improve online branding, provide a cohesive, user-friendly experience, facilitate marketing communications, and optimize viewing across various devices.
The project went through two redesigns; the following work that is presented shows the first design, as the second design is not yet complete.
I was the lead developer for building this site. I developed the site in Kentico – my first project building with this CMS.
For the rest of the sections, I experimented with animating SVG’s.
When the user scrolls to the “Transforming Communities” tree, the lines shoot out and connect with each other. This was made possible with the vivus JS SVG animation tool.
Finally, when the user has scrolled to the people images, the numbers quickly count up to the maximum number. This was done with a piece of custom script that I wrote.
Having the elements animate at the right time – when they have scrolled into view – was made possible with the inview event plugin.
This is still an ongoing project. In the meantime, views of the developed first iteration of the site are shown below.
